FAMOUS FERTILITY STATUES ARRIVE AT RIPLEY'S !

Ripley's Believe It or Not!, the global authority on the weird, strange and bizarre – adds an unusual twist to it's collection of weird and wonderful exhibits in the form of two authentic African fertility statues, which 2,000 women believe may have helped them become pregnant.

The statues at Ripley's, Pleasure Beach, will be on display until later in the year.

The five foot high wooden statues originate from the Ivory Coast of West Africa and after they were originally displayed at Ripley Entertainment's head office in Orlando, Florida, some 13 office staff and visitors became pregnant.

Following a world tour of Ripley's museums in 1996 the company received over 2,000 letters from women who had become pregnant shortly after touching the statues, even though many had been told by doctors they would never conceive. The good news for any would-be mothers who are having problems is that the statues are now back on the road and have arrived at the Blackpool Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum at Pleasure Beach – ready and waiting to be touched completely free of charge.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! spokesperson David Gray comments, “We are not making any claims for the statues, but it is amazing just how many women have told us they became pregnant after touching them, even though some of them had been told they would never give birth”.

Ripley’s latest exhibit, a 14ft Alligator!

Ripley’s Believe It or Not has a snap-tacular new exhibition this season, a 14ft swamp alligator!

Believe it or not but there have been an unbelievable 356 attacks on humans from alligators since 1950! Our new gator, native to Florida has thankfully never attacked a human, this alligator prefers the taste of golf balls!

Ripley’s gator took up residence in a water hazard off the 14th hole of a golf course. It seems his strange appetite resulted in his downfall as the cause of death was put down to a diet of more than 200 indigestible golf balls!

This amazing animal is now on display along with many other incredible artefacts including a floating tap and a model of the world’s tallest man!
